August 31, 2021 - Since we gathered for worship this past Sunday, we have learned of one individual from LCUMC who has tested positive for COVID-19 and had close contact with several other members. This individual was present in worship on August 29 and was masked and socially distanced from others while in the Sanctuary. Those directly exposed through close contact with the individual have been notified, and those who shared worship space with this individual have been notified.
Out of an abundance of caution, worship for this coming Sunday, September 5, will be suspended. Pastor Mollie and other worship leaders were exposed so we will not record a new worship service for this Sunday. In-person worship in the sanctuary will resume on Sunday, September 12. All meetings and other church activities will also be suspended for 10 days from being notified. Elizabeth Bowman, our church finance secretary, will continue to work from the church office but we ask that you limit your visits at this time. Church activities and meetings can resume on Thursday, September 9.
Upon our return to in-person worship on September 12, we will reinstate the following protocols:
Everyone is asked to please wear a mask over their mouth and nose and to practice social distancing while inside the church building, regardless of vaccination status.
Every other pew will be roped off so that we may sit socially-distanced.
Rather than having a choir, we will have a fully vaccinated soloist singing from the choir loft.
We will discontinue the ritual of “Passing of the Peace”.
Thank you for your grace and understanding as we continue navigating these circumstances together with God's help. The Leadership Team will revisit the protocols by the end of September and apprise you of any changes. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to any of us.

MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Welcome to Lawrence Chapel!
In this unprecedented time in our world, so much in life feels uncertain. Yet in the midst of our current crisis, we are assured that God and God’s love remain our constant. Throughout scripture we are reassured as God’s people that God loves us and can be trusted. God’s nature will not change no matter our circumstances. God’s love will remain steadfast. No matter our own anxieties, our changing circumstances, no matter how faithful or unfaithful, anxious or non-anxious we feel in these times, God will remain the same Loving God who pours out God’s mercy upon us with no hesitation or discrimination.
As we seek to remain connected to God during the pandemic, it’s my privilege to provide worship opportunities and other spiritual growth opportunities online. Please know whether you are a member of this faith community or not, you are welcome to join in any worship or study opportunities at Lawrence Chapel.
Along with the people of LCUMC, I am here as a disciple to help you on your faith journey. Together, we seek to practice the love and teachings of Jesus!
Thank you for your interest in LCUMC.
