Making Waves Summer Sermon Series

We were created in God’s image. God sent Jesus to show us the best way to be human. But God knew we’d need help. That’s why God sent us the Holy Spirit. We can make waves through the power of God’s spirit working in our lives.  What we do today can change the world around us when we choose to show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

Welcome to Lawrence Chapel !

In this unprecedented time in our world, so much in life feels uncertain.  What is certain is that God is still committed to the world and all who live in it and as God’s disciples we are still commissioned to do the work of Jesus Christ!  The last two years have accelerated the necessity for the church to get serious about her mission.  As a congregation we recognize that “going to church" and “being the church” are not synonomous.  Instead, the pandemic made clear that the church is always open because Jesus Christ meets us whenever we are and sends us out in mission outside of the building.  The church must be the primary agent of God’s transformative work in the world.

As LCUMC’s pastor, I invite you to join LCUMC’s congregation in our quest to stay in love with God and to love our neighbors.  LCUMC is seeking to grow in love of Christ and neighbor through worship, prayer, mission, bible study, and witness.  To highlight two ministries, the community Food Pantry called “The Goodness Grocery” is a vibrant LCUMC mission to our local neighbors who are food insecure.  We also host local moms for coffee and faith conversations two Mondays a month while church members provide care for the children.  These are just two of the ways we are seeking to share God’s love.

Please know whether you are a member of this faith community or not, you are welcome to join in any ministry opportunities at Lawrence Chapel.

Along with the people of LCUMC, I am here as a disciple to help you on your faith journey. Together, we seek to practice the love and teachings of Jesus!
